Welcome to our Women's Workshop Wednesday for Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) on Vancouver Island! Our weekly workshops are designed specifically for women to come together and learn new skills, challenge themselves, and have fun on the water. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced paddler, our workshops offer a range of activities that will help you improve your technique, fitness, mindfulness, and safety on the board.

Outdoor & On Water Sessions
  • SUP Tips and Techniques: These workshops cover the basics of Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP) and provide on water guidance for proper paddling technique in various conditions. Some examples of skills we will introduce are paddling in a straight line, assisted and self rescues or pivot turns.
  • SUP Fitness: These sessions will focus on the fitness benefits of SUP and provide a workout designed for women. This could include a warm-up, paddling drills, and fun races based on the drill of the night to give a feel for the skill in action.
  • SUP Yoga: Want to expand your yoga practice or try something new that combines your love of the water with a stretching, strengthening and balancing workout? SUP yoga will provide a unique and challenging workout that will also emphasise mindfulness and relaxation. This could include an introduction to basic yoga poses on the board, a guided meditation or even some beginner breath work.
  • SUP Adventures: Short paddles in the local Sidney area will explore new coves, beaches and islands at a leisurely pace. Geared towards those who are comfortable on their boards.
  • SUP Safety: Discuss safety considerations specific when participating in SUP, such as emergency procedures and water rescue techniques.
Indoor Sessions
  • Mindfulness for Women: Offer a workshop on using SUP as a mindfulness practice, helping women to connect with nature and find a sense of calm and relaxation on the water. This could include guided meditations
  • Nutrition for Women: Discuss nutrition strategies that can help women fuel their bodies for SUP workouts and optimize their performance on the board. This could include information on hydration, pre- and post-workout meals, and healthy snack options.
  • Navigation: Discussions and demonstrations about route planning, how to use a chart, how to keep a log book and more.
